Wine Vinification:
Only healthy grapes are harvested. Grapes are harvested manually as well as automatically. Grapes are crushed, no destimming and no pre-fermentation and maceration . Clarification of must ist done via seperation and/or flotation. Fermentation is done temperature controlled and natural as well as cultivated yeast is used. Wines are ripened and stored in stainless steel tanks.

Wine History:
Hilar Schmitt became the founder of Schmitt Söhne. Hilar's son Peter Vitalis Schmitt, built upon this foundation and began expanding. The third generation, headed by Peter's son Gerd Schmitt, took over in 1958 and laying the groundwork for exporting wines. In fourth generation, Thomas Schmitt took over 1984 as Managing Director with his visions for the future. Through his guidance Schmitt Söhne placed its emphasis on exporting wine and has grown into the dominant company it is today.

Wine Regional Info:
Liebfraumilch is probably one of the best known wines from Germany, and is always a quality wine. It is a blend of selected fruity grapes coming from different parts of the greater Rhine growing area. It is best enjoyed with roasted fish, spicy stews, cheese and also pairs well with sweet and aromatic deserts.
