Wine Vinification:
The grapes from each of the crus are vinified separately and unlike many other houses, malolactic fermentation is avoided - excluding this process ensures mouth-watering flavours and an exceptional purity of fruit. The wines are then carefully blended to ensure a consistent taste and style. After blending, each bottle is further aged for a minimum of three years before release.
Wine History:
With a history dating back to 1760 Champagne Lanson is the third oldest house in Champagne and was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1860 by Queen Victoria. An emblematic cuvée, Lanson Black Label owes its name to Victor Lanson, a passionate visionary who in 1937 wished to pay homage to the key market of the House at the time, Great Britain.
Wine Regional Info:
The subsoil in Champagne is predominantly limestone. This type of subsoil provides good drainage and also imparts the particular mineral flavour found in certain Champagne wines. The Champagne terroir has two major distinguishing features: northerly latitude and a dual climate that is subject to both oceanic and continental influences.
